1. Horticultural Science is...
This department is designed to educate students in both theory and the practice of breeding, production, quality improvement, preservation, marketing, and management of horticultural crops. Horticultural crops include vegetables, fruits, flowers and landscape plants. The department contributes to the development of the horticultural industry through the applied research in genetic engineering, greenhouse operation and management, horticultural decoration, and the production of horticultural crops.
2. What do I study...
Horticultural Science provides to study on Plant Morphology, Physiology, Genetics, Soil Science as a basic science, and also Breeding, Propagation, Integrated Pest Management as a applied science. Furthermore, based on these subjects, it contributes to studying Technology of Growing Management for providing high quality horticultural crops and Focused Biotechnology & Genetic Engineering as well as established method of Breeding and Propagation of horticultural crops, and Facility Horticulture for intensive and efficient year-round production. It is designed to teach above subjects in class, lab, greenhouse and field through scientific principles, and practical training. In addition, It can provide the license of flower decoration by studying theory and practice on flower decoration.
3. What can I do afterwards...
The graduates in this division have become leading horticulturists such as researcher in branchesof the Office of Rural Development, SeedCompany, and Cooperative Association on horticulture or agriculture. It offers graduate degree programs (masters and doctor of philosophy) to promote more study and achievement in horticultural science. The graduates make inroads into flower decoration part in proportion to GNP rise as well as could become farmers growing horticultural crops in their farmland.
